It was really something to watch the Canada Day fireworks from above, as we flew out of Toronto last night.
So, our plane arrived at Gatwick by 9:40 am GMT, but, due to the extra long lines caused by some strike, we had to wait a full hour before reaching the Customs agent. Then, we had to get to the other terminal, find the train station, figure out and purchase tickets and then catch a train to London Bridge (because the trains are not currently running any closer - along that line - I believe because of construction). Construction is everywhere. We should have walked - above ground, even with our luggage, but we decided to take the tube, changing lines twice, which involved hauling luggage up and down stairs... and because I lack foresight when exhausted, over the turnstile which attempted to eat my suitcase. So, it was almost 1 pm by the time we made it to the hotel. However, our room wasn't ready, so we wandered a bit.
We're staying near St. Paul's cathedral. We got a coffee, then wandered across the river to the Tate Modern and back.
The sign said this charity was started, a few centuries ago, by a fishmonger. If I were more awake I would provide a better explanation, but that's all I retained. Should have photographed the sign.
We're headed out to dinner soon. We're meeting one of RJH's friends. RJH is fighting the flu, unfortunately. I hope he's feeling better soon.
